Produced by Dean Marino (Graham Wright’s Shirts vs Skins, The Black Keys’ iTunes Sessions) at Toronto’s Chemical Sound, VISTAVISION’s debut EP was recorded in three days onto two-inch tape, primarily live off the floor. Employing an open-concept mic setup, the goal was to not only capture the sound of the band, but also to explore how the band interacted with the surrounding space.
Founded in 2010, the Toronto-based trio consists of J.M. McNab (vocals/electric guitar), David Stein (baritone guitar) and Andrew Haust (percussion). VISTAVISION combines a love of early rock and roll, with a grittiness and energy that is unique to the group. In their various other musical collaborations, the members of the group have shared the bill with acts such as Chad VanGaalen, The Dodos, Electric Wizard, Hooded Fang, and Rock Plaza Central.
